Edgar Allan Poe Poems
Poe’s first book was a forty-page collection of poetry, Tamerlane and Other Poems, attributed with the byline ‘by a Bostonian’. Only fifty copies were printed, and the book received virtually no attention. Whilst in the army, Poe also wrote satirical poems and verses about his commanding officers.
In New York in 1831, he released his third collection of poems. Not long after its publication, Poe returned to Baltimore and soon turned his attention to prose.
Although Poe received almost zero attention for his early poetry, since his death it has continued to be loved by Poe fans just as much as his macabre short stories.
